For the environment and architecture designs I’ve been playing around with a bunch of different possibilities. Currently I’m leaning toward the top building on the sheet below, or something similar as I continue to explore.
On this sheet I’m thinking of ideas for the floating mages city. I’m not very happy with the designs so far but will keep exploring.
This is a piece I did for the matte painting workshop. I used it as an excuse to explore the mages city. Here, I’m playing with a circular shape language. The energy sphere (magic) is powering the city, with excess dripping off (lighting from the sphere hits the conductors on top of the buildings to power them).

Good exploration, I agree with you that the top sketch's shape language is most promising.
ReplyDeleteNice work on the matte painting. My 2cent feedback is that you have ~4 circular-shaped focal points of similar visual mass competing for attention.
