Game name: Kimelea (meaning parasite / host in Swahili)
Genre: Single player, Open world RPG. Age group: Mature audience 17 and older.
Time period:
The game takes place in multiple time settings due to time travel,
Possible dates:
1 - 1850 (In a slave trade / British colonisation setting)
2 -1920 (mafia)
3 -alternate present
4- 2080 (advanced future, AI)
In each timeline, the mask has a tendency to find its way to a host that has a lot of control / influence. (ex: mafia boss, school principal, political leader, colonist, etc)
The player explores different time periods through the progression of the game. He is able to ‘’fast travel’’ to earlier time zones previously unlocked.
Story resume:
Jakhi 's (Jack) village gets attacked by British colonists seeking to obtain slaves and any valuables they find.As the colonist leader searches for valuables, he gets lured to an ancient relic (Kimelea’s mask). Once he picks up the mask, he has an urge and he tries the mask on. Once he does, Kimelea gets summoned and takes control over the leader's body. Kimelea kills a large portion of the village, killing Jakhi ’s dad, and almost killing him.
Jakhi wants revenge and seeks to kill kamelea and send him back into his realm.
Kimelea (Aku):
Kimelea is an ancient vengeful African spirit that can only Inhabit the earth through a living body (animal, plant, human, insect), similar to a parasite taking control over a host’s body. Once Kimelea has taken over a host (each mask grants him 1 host, total of 4 masks), he may not change host, the mask gets bonded to the host’s spirit, until the host body dies. If all 5 hosts are killed, he is then returned to his realm.
He appears on earth roughly once every millennia, leaving behind him destruction.
-The bodies that have been devoured by Kimelea can be identified with specific markings
-The parasite must keep feeding on souls in order to regenerate the host’s body.
-To stay immortal, Kimelea stores his soul into separate masks / containers for his spirit (similar to a lich phylactery) and hides it throughout different timelines.
-when Kimelea’s soul is separated into multiple parts (4 masks), his power is diluted. The less masks he inhabits, the more concentrated Kimelea’s powers are. As he gets more powerful , he is able to shape shift into bigger and more dangerous forms. As the player progresses through the game and slowly breaks the masks, Kimelea becomes harder to defeat.
-Different masks have different shape shifting properties
-Ex: one mask allows Kimelea’s host to shape shift to different types of insects, animals, humans, elemental golems, etc...
-When Kimelea feeds on his souls, the victim inherits a small amount of Kimelea’s powers. In some rare cases when the feeding process is interrupted, the victim will be left with supernatural powers. Mostly in the form of limited time travel.
-The bodies who’s souls have been devoured (or partially) by Kimelea can be identified with unique markings on their bodies
Jakhi (Jack):
Possibility of making the character a woman, the name could be: Jinaki
Jakhi can only time travel to a certain time period, giving him access to one of Kimelea’s masks in one of the time zones. In order for him to go further and gain access to the other masks, he must find others like him (who have been victim of a partial soul absorption) to be able combine their time travel abilities , allowing him to travel further in time.
Through the progression of the game, Jakhi obtains more advanced weapons and armour, but his general outfit remains inspired by his initial tribal look, with added items borrowed from the different timelines he explored.
