“Huheen”
Huheen is “Jack” of the timeline 720CE. She is a shaman traveling with the displaced people from the plains. A shaman’s name must stay hidden, because when other entities cannot name them, they cannot curse them. She is called Huheen (girl) in her youth. And in her later age, she will be called Ucheen (Lady/Madame). As a shaman, her way with demons and spirits involves not swords and seals, but with instruments that produce music. She is the person behind the making of the great border city, the mortal who wins the battles of wit against a water demon, and the woman who disappeared in 7 days of rain and thunder in year 740.
There are two timelines and two protagonists in my version; the character who links these two timelines together is the water demon Shuihuo. The timeline begins in 720 CE with Huheen as protagonist is about how she binds Shuihuo to a promise and three requests, in order to help the displaced people from the plains to find livelihood in this border city. A series of her actions has led to the prosperity of the border city, until an armed revolt that rattled everything in 740 CE. In this timeline, the player should witness her life as a vagrant who just has just separated from her family in a raid, and struggle to survive with what she learnt from her shaman mentor; and then to a respected member among the people from the plains in the border city. Her story will end in 740CE, at that time she will be called Ucheen with greys in her hair. She disappeared in 7 days of rain and thunder in 740, and seemingly broke the promise with the water demon. Huheen’s fate in year740 is the ultimate mystery, something both Shuihui and Ah’mingja try to unravel in 840 CE before the fated 7 days of rain and thunder arrives again.
Huheen is kind, and wears survival humor as armor. But she can be stern and guarded for the sake of surviving. She is the contrasting character with Shuihuo the water demon, therefore a lot of her visual elements should resemble Shuihuo’s. We will mostly see Huheen in her Shaman costume. A large portion of it should resemble animals with horns or scales. Natural materials such as reeds which are found near rivers is a good addition.
