HW_04 _Wes Fraser

The Lowlands- Border town village:

Simple
Rough
Hunters

Because in this re-design, Jack comes from space and is disliked and mistrusted by almost everyone on New Earth, I couldn’t give Jack a “hometown” to speak of, but I did want to give him some allies in the story. So I imagine that there’s a community of surviving humans who have been exposed to Aku’s savagery but have also survived long enough to evolve their culture from a society of  pacifists to a primitive warrior culture. (history repeating itself)
I also thought it would be cool to give them a Scottish vibe, in lipservice to “The Scotsman” who as I recall was Samurai Jack’s recurring friend in the original series.

The Lowlands are located in a flat plain on the borders of Aku’s forests and locked away from most of civilization by a stretch of mountains. They used to be farmers and agriculturalists, before the constant attacks from Aku’s mutated beasts left them bereft of food, forcing them to  adapt to new times, where other lesser tribes perished.
Most of their housing is primitive, and ramshackle, the oldest structures being made of the most durable materials they could find at the time. Because of the constant attacks from Aku, the village is designed with defence in mind.
Its people are slowly turning into a more warrior based, Viking like culture, as opposed to the hedonistic cultures in the south, who follow a more Egyptian-greco vibe (think Conan)
Giant landsnail shells and other tough carapace creatures form the bulk of their housing
