GENRE

First or Third Person shooter, with narrative action-adventure or RPG elements

SETTING

Futuristic Science Fiction – something set in a megacity with cavernous urban canyons, amidst a backdrop of technocratic overlords, aristocratic oligarchs, feeble or non-existent national powers reduced to border guards. Not necessarily full cyberpunk, maybe something a bit more noblebright and futuristic? Maybe technology has advanced to a level where it's becoming indistinguishable from magic.

More refined tech level than fast-forwarded 1980s jank. Space stuff could hinted at, but I'd want to keep most of the locations terrestrial. Fifth Element

CULTURAL / HISTORICAL REF

Not sure if Asian cyberpunk aesthetics are overdone, so maybe a more exotic feel – I really like how  Moroccan Islamic architecture looks, and I've always liked how Napoleonic Second Empire style looks as well - maybe combined with a mix of Modernist/Brutalist and contemporary Parametric design?

Futuristic, bright, idealistic, not grimdark and dour.

STORIES

Each story has its own appeal, and I can adapt each one down to a sci-fi city level, but I think it would be more fun (more creative opportunities) for switching genres rather than remaining within the source; for example, Farscape is already set in a Sci-Fi world; so redoing it in sci-fi would be rebooting it rather than re-imagining it? Meanwhile, because the Legend of the White Snake is an ancient classical tale, I think switching its Historical Fantasy genre to Sci-Fi seems much more creatively interesting.

JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS ADAPTATION

The young scion of a corpo-oligarch family falls from grace and must journey beyond the post-apocalyptic barren cities to reach a distant megacity, from where he must steal/retrieve a lost technology from one of the last nation-states that rely on its power to survive to prove his mettle and reclaim his place at the Court of Executives. Maybe the Argonaut is an advanced hovercraft (not a spaceship) and the Golden Fleece is some sort of cure against radiation sickness or technological disease, Norton Anti-virus 9001?

WHITE SNAKE ADAPTATION

A young digi-tech struggling to make ends meet in his new repair shop, especially when corporate or triad thugs come knocking for their protection money? Somehow his beautiful wife comes to his rescue (miraculous tech solution? Or effortless slaughter?) and thanks to a savvier friend, he realises she might not be human? (eg Spike Jonze's Her in reverse, AI-loves-human love story)

FARSCAPE ADAPTATION

A test pilot is trying out an experimental quantum craft, when he is suddenly thrust into the future version of his current world (Planet of the Apes, The Time Machine etc). He becomes part of an unlikely crew on the run away from a militaristic evil (and/or corporate) empire that dominates most of the world. Instead of alien races, it could be different kinds of human – eg cyborgs, digitised post-humans in tech shells, uplifted sentient animals, off-planet humanoids from Mars/Jupiter etc)
