HW_07 Daniel Castiblanco

 Final IP project

Genre: 3rd Person Action-Adventure RPG.

Theme: Historical/High fantasy. Medieval.

Style: Realistic

Original IPs: The legend of the White Snake or Farscape?.

The Legend of the White Snake:

A similar story to the original, but in a Celtic setting, where the White Snake would instead be the Morrigan, the goddess of death and destruction, that, wanting to understand humans better, takes a human form and begins living with them. During this period, she falls in love with a human, Cuchulainn  (Xu Xian), and they get married. After a while, one of her jealous sisters (Fa Hai) tricks Cuchulainn into giving her a potion that deprives her of her godly powers: angry, Cuchulainn tries to retaliate against her wife's sister but she defeats him and kills him. The plot of the game after this would be for her to go and try to recover her godly powers to become once again the goddess of death and thus, be able to save her husband from the underworld, fighting with different gods and creatures from the Celtic pantheon.

Possible creature form: The Morrigan usually appears as a crow but can transform into different animals like eels and wolves.

As for the herbs prop, there is a story where The Morrigan gives Cuchulainn some milk after which he blesses her and cures some wounds she had, so the Holy Vessel could be a symbolic container that could represent the cow that appears in that story.

For the weapon, the spear Gae Bulg belonged to Cuchulainn so in this story, could be the weapon that The Morrigan uses to begin her quest. In the mythology lore, it's made out of the bones of a sea monster.

The bridge could be ancient burial mounds that are within the mythology, are used to travel to the Otherworld, that's the realm of the Gods and the death. This would be the other environment where The Morrigan would get the substance to save her husband and defeat the final boss.

For this IP I'm using different elements of Celtic mythology that may not be originally connected, I don't know if you have any tips about how close to the original myths I should be, or if I should invent completely new elements, for example for the means of transportation.

Farscape:

I was considering this one only because I wanted to do fantasy, so the obvious switch would be the sci-fi of Farscape to that genre.  On that line, it would be a reimagining of the story set in medieval Europe, where an alchemist gains access to ancient texts that accidentally transport him to an alternate reality where magic is common and fantastical creatures cohabitate with humans. The plot would revolve around the alchemist trying to get back to his own reality while learning how to survive in this new world.

The technological level would resemble what one would expect from the time period but integrated with magical properties.
